STM SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH SATELLITE MEDIA PORT SERVICE (SMS U.K.) FOR DVB-RCS DEPLOYMENT

Service Coverage to Target Africa and the Middle East

IRVINE, CA – February 20, 2007 – STM Group announced today that through its Middle East subsidiary, STMEA, it has entered into a value added service agreement with Satellite Media Port Services (SMS) of the U.K. for the introduction of DVB-S2 RCS services in Africa and the Middle East.

Starting in the second quarter of 2007, STM will use its Satlink DVB-S2 RCS Hub, hosted by SMS, to offer high quality, carrier class broadband and telephony services across Africa using the SES New Skies NSS-10 satellite. Under the terms of the agreement, STM will initially occupy 18 MHz of capacity for private network customers and broadband-based services. The capacity will increase incrementally based on traffic growth. Additionally, STM will supply a second Satlink Hub to SMS, which will be operated out of its facilities in Rugby, U.K for Ku-Band services into the Middle East and Africa
Mr. Zvi Golod, President and CEO of SMS, said, “We are delighted in our collaboration with STM, as well as having access to their field-proven DVB-RCS technology. The addition of DVB-S2 modulation and coding to SMS’s teleport facilities and services will result in improved efficiencies, which will allow us to jointly serve customers more effectively.”
SMS’s Teleport in Rugby is equipped with three 11-meter antennas with top-of-the-line facilities for power protection, backup and multiple Tier-1 fiber connectivity.
The services into Africa will be marketed by STM, targeting clients with a requirement for high service availability and superior quality. Umar Javed, Executive Vice President for STM Group, said, “We chose SMS as our business partner because of their specialized staff and world class teleport facilities, with access to the NSS-10 satellite”. The NSS-10 satellite provides the most powerful C-Band coverage into Africa with direct connectivity to a fiber backbone in Europe. Mr. Javed, continued, “STM’s service in Africa will be unparalleled and differentiated by (i) superior satellite beam coverage; (ii) immunity to rain fade at C-Band; (iii) STM’s state-of-the-art Satlink technology with European backbone connectivity; and (iv) in-country service and installation support in Africa.”
