Satellite Mediaport Services Ltd., operators of the Lawford Heath teleport in Rugby UK, is pleased to announced the commissioning of a 9.1 meter antenna for coverage of the AMOS 5i satellite over Africa.
With the introduction of services on the AMOS 5i, SMS added to its already extensive gallery of satellites over which it provides a range of satellite communcations infrastructure services for local service providers throughout Africa and the Middle East.
According to Todd Miller, "the AMOS 5i is a unique satellite for service over Africa for several reasons. Firstly, the satellite will be followed up by the AMOS 5 which will offer even more powerful C band and Ku band throughout the African Continent, thus assuring long term space capacity for the region. Also, the satellite is located at 170 East, allowing for high elavtion over the continent which of course mitigates to a major degree the effects of the rain.
